Review 2023 – Celebrating a Year of Rock Dance Triumphs in Germany

The year 2023 marked a significant chapter in the history of Rock Dance, particularly in Germany. With events like „Rockers Delight“ in Mannheim and the „Battle of the Month“ in Stuttgart, the German Rock Dance community witnessed an unprecedented fusion of talent, culture, and passion. As we reflect on these events, we celebrate the milestones achieved in the Rock Dance scene across Germany.

Rockers Delight – The Mannheim Marvel
Mannheim was the beating heart of Rock Dance in May 2023. „Rockers Delight“ was more than a dance competition; it was a cultural symposium where each step and beat echoed the rich tapestry of Rock Dance in Germany.

Battle of the Month – A Stuttgart Spectacle of Skill
Stuttgart’s „Battle of the Month“ in May was a culmination of skill, style, and spirited competition. Thanks to host of Battle of the Month, the event was graced by accomplished judges from renowned crews, elevating the standards and expectations of the Rock Dance scene in Germany. Participants from various regions brought their unique styles, contributing to a vibrant mosaic of Rock Dance. This gathering was not just a testament to individual prowess but a celebration of the communal spirit of the Rock Dance community in Germany.

Temple of Stylez – Where Dance Culture Thrives
The „Temple of Stylez“ hosted a sensational gathering in November 2023, drawing breaking and popping dancers to showcase their skills in front of an international jury. The event pulsated with energy as renowned DJs spun B-Boy/B-Girl breaks, funk, boom bap, and many more!

Moreover, adding to the excitement was the Rocking Apache line by the host. This added an extra dimension to the event, showcasing the rich heritage and evolution of dance forms of the „Hip Hop“ and „Pre-Hip-Hop“ culture through time.

2023 will be remembered as a year when the Rock Dance community in Germany shone brightly, showcasing its strength and versatility. „Rockers Delight“, „Battle of the Month“ and „Temple of Stylez“ were not just events; they were landmarks in the ongoing journey of Rock Dance in the country. They highlighted the unity, diversity, and dynamic energy of the German Rock Dance scene. As we step into the future, these memories serve as beacons of inspiration, urging us to keep the rhythm alive and continue to elevate Rock Dance in Germany and beyond. In the spirit of Robert A. Heinlein’s words, „Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own,“ these events embodied the love within the Rock Dance community — a love where the joy and fulfillment of each dancer uplifted and inspired the whole. BloqSpot4Rockers has been instrumental in documenting these moments, ensuring that the vibrancy and spirit of German Rock Dance are celebrated and remembered.

Review 2020

Wow, what a crazy year has been past by. Two days left for 2021, but to be honest i have lost all sense of time & space. Covid-19 has changed the way people live together like few other events in recent history. Entire countries were shut down in so-called lockdowns, borders closed, travel prohibited. If someone had told me at the beginning of the year, that this virus would change our lives, i would not have believed it. 2020 is certainly a year for the history books, but also one in which we will be put to the test in no small measure.

Rocking in Germany

Due to the effects of the contact restrictions and the overall situation in general, Rockers Delight Vol.4 (RD4) could not take place this year. RD4 was planned for the 30th of May 2020, this time in Mannheim, presented by True Rocking Soul (TRS) & Def Style Rockers (DSR). As soon as a new date for RD4 can be set, it will be announced here on Bloqspot4rockers and on the common social media platforms to you. Speaking of social media, there have been some online rock dance contests on facebook, which is a great idea to keep the international rock dance scene alive.

In addition, it should be mentioned that communication and exchange among people interested in rocking has become stronger since the pandemic. This is at least my personal observation in Germany. It should not be forgotten that video and/or chat exchange would not be possible without the use of technical tools. Nevertheless, I hope for a NEW normality in 2021 so that we can get together and get back to rock:ing sessions!

Rockers Delight Vol. 4 – ROCTOBER Dortmund

Here comes the Rocking Jam you’ve been waiting for so long and now it’s time to mark October 16, 2021 in your calendar for Rockers Delight Vol.4.
This time the jam will take place in Dortmund, Germany, presented by Masterplan & Def Style Rockers (D.S.R).

With the focus on Rocking (Rock Dance) Rockers Delight stands out as a dance event from all the others. and also offers dance floor for B-Girls, B-Boys, Funkstylteers and House dancers. Besides funk and soul music will be rock, disco, break beats dripping out of the speakers to get you into the rhythm and rotation.

Here comes with a little delay an update of Rockers Delight Vol.4. Despite difficult organizational conditions, due to pandemic restrictions the event was able to take place. A big thank you for everyone coming out to Rockers Delight, taking the Workshop and rocking afterwards the concrete. Of course a hugh thanks goes out to Sunz (MPC) and JKC for organizing. Simply, it would not be possible without you. Also, thanks for both DJs, Mark & Kid Step for spinning the wheels and putting everyone into the rhythm and rotation. There is that very known saying, „A picture is worth a thousand words„. This is what it looks like.

Review 2019

Another year has passed in the rock dance scene in germany and through rocking classes and events, this battle dance of New York City has grown more and more. Read more on this in the following summary:

Berlin
In 2019, for the fist time, i have performed a rocking class in the capital Berlin at KMA. Participants of different skill level and age groupes take in part to learn how to response to each other in real time while mimicking physical attacks. This is a complicated process than it seems. All participants mastered the challenge well, while they had to face another challenge, that of physical fitness. I would like to thank KMA and BBoy Crok!

Rocking Class@KMA/Berlin

Dortmund
The rocking class within the program „A-Z of Dance – A dance project of Transnational Ensemble Labsa“ was awesome. The participants been rocking to complete songs and guess what; they could go through more songs. Unlike in breaking, rock songs do not only have break parts but also freestyle parts where rockers are expected to dance and challenge the other rocker until one becomes exhausted. By the way, the idea of the project „A-Z of Dance – A dance of project of Transnational Ensemble labsa“ is to find a dance style to each letter of the alphabet and regarding to the letter R, they end up on rocking 🙂 Thanks goes out to Sunz from Masterplan Crew for connecting and showing love to the rock dance.

Tübingen

To be mention is, that the most participants been from italy, romania and austria. Some had zero rocking skill, some had advanced rocking skill. They all took the challange to interact to each other while burning and getting burned. Well done! Thanks goes out Michelè for setting up the class!

Braunschweig
Rockers Delight Vol 3 took place for the third time, and again we had international guests comin all the way from poland to rock with us.

Rockers Delight Vol 3

One of the highlights in 2019 was the Anniversary of the Def Style Rockers (D.S.R) Crew from Braunschweig. In august 2019, they celebrate their 25th Anniversary where people from all over the world have been joined three days of pure Hip Hop Culture. Writing, breakin, rocking , moving, grooving! Within three days, we had a special edition of Rockers Delight Vol 3, the most valuable Bgirl/Bboy, a rocking class by the legendary Dj Samurai „Sam“ of the Incredible Breakers from NYC and last but not least writers/rockers/bboys rocking the walls.
